The Need Has Never Been Greater
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Political collapse, gang violence, and a series of devastating natural disasters have left millions without food, shelter, medical care, education or jobs. Most aid organizations have scaled back or pulled out entirely. We have not.
Healthcare Void
Most hospitals in Haiti have closed because of gang violence and lack of infrastructure. Only 5 hospitals still actively operate in the entire country, and they are understaffed, without the doctors, nurses or supplies to run properly.
Extreme Hunger
5.6 million people, nearly half of the population, face acute food insecurity. This means their inability to consume adequate food puts their lives in immediate danger.
Spiritual COnfusion
Haitians are very spiritual and Voodoo is deeply embedded in their national identity. The culture incorporates Christian traditions while practicing Voodoo. Without a clear Gospel message, Haitians struggle to identify how to know Jesus and experience His forgiveness and salvation.
Sharing Hope in Hard Places
We partner with Haitian church leaders and evangelists who know their communities, speak the language, and have earned the trust of their neighbors. Our role is to resource and support them, not replace them. Additionally, our short term missions teams go to Haiti several times per year to share the Gospel and pray for people in prisons, elderly care homes, shelters, and throughout their neighborhoods.
Serving where help is scarce
Our Haitian ministry motto is "I will change myself, my community and my world." Our humanitarian work empowers and equips Haitians to improve their own lives so that they can change the lives of others. Our work includes educational scholarships, micro loans, orphan care, clean water access, food distribution, and medical care through our Haitian staff on the ground. Every act of service opens a door and gives us an opportunity to show Haitians that they are not forgotten and they are not without hope.
Healing Wounds That Run Deep
Our trauma care in Haiti focuses on children, particularly those who live at our children's shelter. The staff psychologist and social worker help the kids navigate deep-seated trauma from abandonment, abuse, and poverty. We also provide wraparound care for families to remain intact, and so that children are seen, understood and properly cared for by those who love them most.
Chanje Movement
Our ministry in Haiti is called "Chanje Movement" and its mission is to bring a hope and a future to the people of Haiti through community transformation and revival. The ministry is led by an incredible team of Haitians who work tirelessly to improve their communities and their country. Chanje Movement focuses on orphan care, family reunification, education, food, water, medical care and spiritual revival.
